The Big Apple 2014. In Much Marcle, Herefordshire, the small independent cider apple and pear orchard owners open up to the public and celebrate all things cider-ish....you can stroll around ancient orchards, sample fresh pressed apple juice and ciders and perry.
At Hellens Manor, I held a community art workshop, with John, inviting people to paint onto cloth the names of cider apple types - ie Tom Putt, Hogshead, Strawberry Norman, Pigs Nose Pippin....
The banners 25 in total, were hung from apple trees to create an 'arena' where Paul Henry (Herefordshire Poet Laureate) and other poets read their poems inspired by apple names.
This was a collaborative project between The Ledbury Poetry Festival and Big Apple organisers.
