To try and give older people the opportunity to take part in arts activities in their locality, a project called 'Rural Arts in The Pub' project began in two pubs - for the past month I have been meeting a group of 14 people at The New Inn, teaching them how to paint with watercolour and recently acrylic paints - these example are from two complete 'novices' who have never painted before, and there achievement's are remarkable.
At the Tump Inn, fellow artist Penny Allen is also offering a weekly mixed media and bookmaking session where she also enjoyed a wonderful response from her group.
The Courtyard has a wonderful Arts and Older People initiative, run by Alice Saunders who has brought to the county many important and perceptive ideas regarding arts for all people and especially older people.
